There is so much to do before your Senior heads off to college.  It's like the list never ends!  But don't rush it, slow down and take some time to make some memories before they go!

We live in a beautiful area with so much to do and so many things to see so close to home!  As a Senior, you might be thinking about packing your bags, going away to college and starting your future.  As a Senior's parent, you might be thinking about making every second that you can spend with your kiddo count before he leaves for college!  So we've put together a list of some fun things to check out before your Senior heads off on their new adventure!

1.  Everybody has to eat, right?  Pick 5 restaurants to visit and compare their breakfast tacos!  Check out Juan In A Million, Torchy's Tacos, Waterloo Ice House or Taco Deli, just to name a few.  You'll get to enjoy some quality family time AND some amazing food!  Oh and if you need help, just let me know!

2.  Visit Barton Springs Pool...this is a must!  Grab a towel and head to Barton Springs to enjoy the constant 70 degree, year round water temp.  You could spend all day here with your family swimming, relaxing, picnicking and making memories!

3.  Hit the greens at Peter Pan Mini Golf on Barton Springs Road!  Spend an hour or two playing putt-putt and then head down the road to Shady Grove for lunch or dinner on the patio!

4.  Take a stroll around Lady Bird Lake and complete the full loop on the hike and bike trail!  Pick a pretty day, pack some water and hit the trail for a fun and free day with your family!  Stop along the way, watch the ducks and make sure and take plenty of selfies with your family!

5.  Visit an art museum or sculpture garden with your family!  We are lucky enough to have some great ones in Austin.  The Blanton Museum of Art, Umlaf Sculpture Garden & Museum, Laguna Gloria or the Zilker Botanical Garden.  Another favorite is the Graffiti Park at Castle Hills...this is always a favorite!  Remember...take those selfies!

6.  Visit Butler Park and climb the small hill to discover a beautiful skyline view of Austin!  Take a towel because you might want to splash in the water before you leave!  Think the splash pad is just for the little ones?  Nope...I've photographed Seniors there and I'm telling you, it's a fun place!

7.  Visit all of the cool painted walls around Austin!  Check out the "I love you so much" wall on South Congress, the "Greetings from Austin" wall on South 1st or the "Hi, how are you?" wall on Guadalupe.  Again, take those selfies!

8.  Get out of town and take a day trip!  Go to Cele for some yummy barbeque.  Float the Frio River with a group of friends.  Visit Fredericksburg for a day of shopping!

9.  Rent a kayak and get out on the water.  It's not that hard, it's great exercise and it's a lot of fun!  Bring some sunscreen and a picnic and enjoy the whole day out on the water!

10.  Grab your boots and go two-steppin'!  There are some great dance halls around central Texas and it's FUN!  Coupland, Broken Spoke, John T. Floore's Country Store, Luckenbach and Gruene Hall...just to name a few.  Maybe you aren't the best dancer, that's ok!  Just get out there and have some fun tryin'!

I can guarantee you and your family will enjoy these activities!  You'll get to spend some quality time together, have some fun and make some lasting memories before your Senior heads off to college!  It's important...so stress less over that never-ending list and get busy having some fun!  You'll be glad you did.

One of the most frequent questions I get asked as a newborn photographer is when to do newborn photos.  Six to twelve days old is the best time to capture your newborn baby in all their wonderful newness.  When they are less than two weeks old, we can wrap them and pose them and most of the time they will stay asleep.  We can certainly do newborn photos later than that, but the older they get the less they stay asleep and the more likely they are to stay still. There is a lot of flailing of arms that happens the older they get.

Because they are so young, I take newborn safety very seriously and I will make sure to notify you if I am not feeling well or have anything that is contagious. Thankfully, I believe in a healthy lifestyle with natural supplements and clean-eating and I rarely catch anything. But in the event I feel that I am not well (or I even think there is a chance that I might not be), I will let you know so that we can reschedule. I also ask that you do the same if the baby or you have something contagious.

I also know that the baby's schedule cannot be predicted when we chose the newborn photo shoot date, so we wait until a few days before to actually decide on a morning or afternoon shoot. I schedule a large block of the day to allow for flexibility to adjust the time as needed.  And your session doesn't begin until you arrive, so if you are running late, no worries - just let me know so I can keep working on other things. The last thing we want is for you to show up stressed because you are late. If you are stressed, the baby will feel it and it will be harder to get them to stay asleep and calm.

Here are some recent photos from our newborn shoots that were taken when the baby was less than two weeks old:

If you are interested in booking a newborn shoot with us, call to see if I have availability for your due date on our calendar. We know that when the baby will actually come is completely unknown, but we use the due date as a starting point and look at our availability two weeks before and two weeks after to make sure that I can book your session once you have the baby.  Here is more information about our pricing and process

Sweet little Mackenzie was the tiebreaker, giving girls the majority in this family. She is gorgeous and looks like a baby doll! We loved hanging out with her, her older siblings and her mom. Welcome baby Mackenzie!
